Maybe it's because my very own Willa slept in one, but I'm loving the growing trend towards retro-style cribs and cots in vintage wicker and cane in all shapes, sizes and styles - all you need do is add a good quality new mattress (The Little Green Sheep and Natural Mat both make excellent mattresses in custom sizes) and some stylish nursery bedding to give your nursery an instant injection of character and a vintage vibe. You will however, need an eagle eye to track one down (it's worth keeping your eye on Ebay and letting your local auction house know you're on the lookout for one). I am lucky enough to be the current curator of my husband's gorgeous family crib, slept in by many a happy baby over the years, and I had great fun re-styling it recently for the website - though I say it myself, the end result sits pretty nicely alongside my ever growing 'Cribs, Cots and Moses Baskets' board of inspiring pics from Pinterest - here are a few of my favourites ...
Loving the pretty sprigged lining on this faux bamboo cot
A plump, made-to-measure mattress has breathed new life into this elegant cane crib
This sixties moses basket looks ultra contemporary in its modern setting
A fluffy sheepskin adds a luxurious touch to this gorgeous vintage cot
Possibly not the most practical of cribs, but it sure does look cosy and I just love the shape
